Alumni Gathering Event – Synergize Together Through Friendship to Build ITPLN

In order to improve the achievement of the campus’ vision and mission, after transforming from the STT-PLN to Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN), precisely on January 31, 2020, the PLN Institute of Technology held an Alumni Gathering with the theme “Synergizing Together Through Gathering to Build a PLN Institute of Technology“. The event, which was attended by alumni from the first batch of 1998 to the youngest graduates in 2016, was held online via the Zoom application on Sunday, November 29, 2020. Previously, the event was planned to be held in person, but due to the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), the event is delayed. Although it is carried out online because it is during a pandemic that is hitting Indonesia, it does not reduce the essence of the goals to be achieved. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the alumni as well as the invitees, including the Deans and Heads of Study Programs who attended the event and attended the event until it was finished.

The event started at 13.00 WIB, starting with singing the National Anthem of Indonesia Raya followed by the Hymn of Institut Teknologi PLN. Message from Mrs. Rizqia Cahyaningtyas, ST, M. Kom as the Chief Executive who reported the start of the activity. The event was then officially opened by the Vice Rector III for Human Resources, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Mrs. Nurmiati Pasra, ST., MT. Not only that, the Rector of ITPLN, Prof. Dr. Ir. Iwa Garniwa Mulyana K., MT also gave full support for the implementation of this activity through his remarks. Also attending were Deputy Rector I for Academic Affairs, Mr. Luqman, ST, M.Kom, and Vice Rector II for Adm. & Finance, Mr. Drs. Moh. Ahsan, MM. On this occasion, the Vice Rector IV for Cooperation and Admission, Dr. Ir. Soetjipto Soewono, Dipl. GE was unable to attend due to other assignments.

In this event, the alumni were invited to tour the campus online to reminisce and see the changes and progress of the campus after the alumni graduated. The alumni were also treated to the best performance from the Gita Pracalita Choir – Institut Teknologi PLN which won the International Champion of the LANNA International Choir Competition in Chiang Mai Thailand in 2016. To enliven the event, the alumni were invited to play online quizzes with consolation prizes in the form of electronic money for 10 winners with a total of Rp. 1.000.000. Video broadcasts of impressions and messages and hopes from alumni representatives also enlivened the ongoing Alumni Gathering event.

Next was the presentation of the material by the Chair of the PLT Formation Team for the 2019 Institut Teknologi PLN Alumni Association, Mr. Wisnu Haryanto, followed by the Speech of the Elected Chairperson of the 2020 Institut Teknologi PLN Alumni Association, Mr. Sandi Suryakusuma Alumni from the 1999 Electrical Engineering Study Program. Bang Sandy, as he is usually called, won a total of 3553 in the 2020 Alumni Association Chairperson election. The highlight of this Alumni Gathering event was the Inauguration of Institut Teknologi PLN Alumni Association with the submission of Secretarial Documents and The secretariat’s Room Key symbolically addressed the elected chairman with a term of office of 2 (two) years, starting from 2021 to 2022. The event continued with a Workshop containing questions from invited guests and answered directly by the Leaders of ITPLN. Approaching the end of the event, the audience was presented with the latest March song from Institut Teknologi PLN. As the closing event, a video showing the Alumni of ITPLN who until now still serves his beloved campus and ended with the announcement of the winner of the quiz for alumni. The series of successful events were carried out with a duration of 3.5 hours consecutively until 16.30 WIB.

The formation of the Alumni Association is not only important in realizing the vision, mission, and existence of campus, alumni are naturally able to improve the reputation of campus in the eyes of the outside world which will ultimately build and improve the quality of graduates from Institut Teknologi PLN. In what way? Of course, through actual Synergy with the campus.

Alumni can provide input on real programs for the progress of the campus. Alumni are a source of information on the world of work for new graduates and provide inspiration for the needs of qualified skills needed in the field. Alumni as relationships also have the potential to expand the network of the campus with institutions outside the campus. During very tight competition for the quality of the world of education and the dynamics of the current pace of technology, it is very important to SYNERGIZE between alumni and the campus so that the relationship between Alumni and the campus where they study has higher efficiency for all elements involved in it.
