Institut Teknologi PLN is a college that focuses on the electricity sector. During the Covid-19 pandemic, IT-PLN through Dr. Ir. Soetjipto Soewono, Dipl. GE and team developed an electric current-based anti-covid-19 device.

This tool certainly needs to be investigated further, including on how the regulations are to be used for the public. Therefore, on Monday 27 July 2020 a team from IT-PLN visited the DKI Jakarta Health Office to get further directions.

This innovation is motivated by the weakness of the Covid-19 virus, which is coated with protein, where the protein layer can be easily destroyed using an electric current at a level that is safe for humans.

In his presentation at the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Dr. Soetjipto explained that the Corona Virus in the human body does not only replicate, but also mutates. One thing that worries many people about Covid-19 is that there is no medicine or vaccine that is specifically designed to treat and prevent this disease, and it is also feared that the vaccine that will be found will not be able to be used universally because of the mutation process.

There is a need for a cooperation between health and electricity disciplines for handling the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, it is necessary to form a joint team, especially those from the Ministry of Health, so that this innovation is safe, does not cause side effects, and is in accordance with regulations.

In the future, if it has been successfully tested clinically and passed regulations, it can be used for the public, the patent for this tool will not be commercialized because it concerns our common interests, so that the pandemic that is befalling us all can end soon.
