Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN) Receives Power System Simulator Software from Siemens Indonesia

Jakarta, February 29, 2024 – The Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN), along with the University of Indonesia (UI) and the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November Surabaya (ITS), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Siemens Indonesia regarding the provision of Power System Simulator (PSS) software for electrical power. The event took place on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Jakarta. The signing was carried out by ITPLN Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Iwa Garniwa Mulyana K., MT and President Director and CEO of PT Siemens Indonesia Dr. Lamine Jendoubi.
Present at the occasion from ITPLN were the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Rummi Sirait, ST., MT, Vice Dean Adri Senen, ST., MT, and Laboratory Head Hasna Satya Dini, S.T., M.T. Also present from Siemens Indonesia were President and CEO of Siemens AG Dr. Roland Busch, Head of Digitalization ASEAN Virginia Chan, and Financial Advisory, Siemens Bank GmbH R. Geraldine Lam. From the University of Indonesia, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D, and also the Rector of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Ahmad Rusdiansyah, M.Eng were in attendance.
The PSS Sincall Integrated Network Simulator is part of Gridscale X, software designed to address various challenges in the transformation of distribution systems, transmission, and industrial energy. This software also supports energy system planning and operation with their entire workflow.
Prof. Iwa stated that the issues in electrical power today are very complex, so they cannot be solved by ordinary software alone. The Sincall software is very useful for conducting power system analysis and greatly assists in the teaching and learning process.
“ITPLN is trusted to develop the power system, so it is hoped that students can understand learning through the mechanism and assistance of software. Students will be ready to analyze energy systems, plan and develop renewable energy that will enter the system,” said Prof. Iwa. Because ITPLN has a 4-4-2 learning system, 40% theory, 40% problem-solving, and 20% industrial lectures, the presence of this software can support teaching and learning activities at ITPLN and produce excellent human resources in the energy field.
Dr. Lamine Jendoubi said that we are facing the future in the field of energy and there are things we can do together for Indonesia. “Fortunately, humans don’t lack creativity and inspirations,” said Dr. Lamine.
This indicates that Siemens Indonesia’s trust in ITPLN is significant, believing that ITPLN is capable of addressing and solving the problems faced together by producing energy experts in the future and creating innovation.
