Organized by the World Water Council (WWC), the WWF is the largest international gathering that addresses global water issues, specifically discussing and formulating policies on water and sanitation governance worldwide.

ITPLN’s Vice Rector IV, Dr. Ir. Pawenary, M.T., MPM., IPU., ASEAN Eng., accompanied the Chairman of PII, Dr. Ir. Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, M.Eng.Sc., IPU., APEC Eng., ACPE. The presence of representatives from the Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN) as a higher education institution and PII as a professional engineering organization highlights the important role of the educational sector in producing engineers.

In the era of energy transition, water plays a crucial role in renewable energy generation in Indonesia. The utilization of ocean waves and currents is also being developed, such as in tidal and wave power plants.

Pawenary stated, “Hydropower plants (PLTA) are among the most efficient and reliable types of power plants, known for their trouble-free operation. Water can also be harnessed to operate Mini Hydro Power Plants (PLTM) and Micro Hydro Power Plants (PLTMH) in Indonesia,” in a brief message on May 22, 2024.

Indonesia’s selection as the host for the world’s largest international water forum in 2024 is a source of great pride, providing an opportunity for Indonesia to become a role model for other countries. Moreover, the 2024 World Water Forum will focus on issues such as water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and disaster mitigation.
