Jakarta, May 27, 2024 – Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN) officially concluded its 26th anniversary celebrations with great enthusiasm and excitement. The closing ceremony, held at the ITPLN Campus, began with a Fun Walk and included various engaging activities such as awarding prizes to winners of sports competitions, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT DSSP Power Indonesia, and a scientific oration by Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari MM MSc.
The event was attended by ITPLN Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Iwa Garniwa K., MT., IPU, along with Vice Rectors, Heads of Departments, and Deans. Representatives from PT PLN (Persero), Sri Yuliani, Yayasan Pendidikan dan Kesejahteraan PLN (YPK PLN), Kadir, President Director of PT DSSP Power Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.M., MSC, and the entire ITPLN academic community were also present.
Prof. Iwa emphasized that ITPLN continues to transform to achieve its vision of becoming a world-class, modern, independent, and superior university in the field of energy and environmentally conscious technology.
“The 26th ITPLN Dies Natalis theme, ‘Accelerating Becoming a World Class University,’ aims to face global challenges with confidence and extensive knowledge, as ITPLN is transforming towards a world-class university,” said Prof. Iwa.
Over the past 26 years, ITPLN has evolved into a private university under the auspices of YPK PLN and become a part of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) University Alliance. With its long journey of providing quality education and contributing to community development, ITPLN feels proud and grateful to its academic community and stakeholders who have supported its growth to its current position.
Sri Yuliani congratulated ITPLN, saying, “Congratulations to ITPLN, may it continue to advance and attract more interest. We at PLN Central support ITPLN and hope it improves year by year.”
Kadir also expressed similar sentiments, stating, “We can celebrate ITPLN’s Dies Natalis. At this moment, YPK expresses its appreciation to ITPLN for its continuous enthusiasm and collaboration to grow and contribute.”
A highlight of the closing ceremony was the signing of an MoU between ITPLN and PT DSSP Power Indonesia. This collaboration aims to strengthen the synergy between education and industry in technology, energy, and the Tri Dharma of higher education, along with human resource development programs. PT DSSP signed the MoU to recruit alumni from ITPLN’s D3 Mechanical Engineering and D3 Electrical Technology programs to work in their facilities across Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
The 26th Dies Natalis closing event also featured a scientific oration by Prof. Riri Fitri Sari, Director of UI Green Metric. In her speech, Prof. Riri discussed the crucial role of ITPLN’s academic programs in supporting the acceleration of government policies (SDGs) in clean energy. She also emphasized the role of universities in fostering creative and adaptive young generations in response to technological advancements.
Prof. Riri stated that clean energy is a primary focus in global development. Planned development exemplifies how we can build smart campuses, smart buildings, and smart societies, as ITPLN does.
“ITPLN will become a center for development, providing excellent human resources capable of utilizing clean energy and existing information technology models,” she stated.
ITPLN has seen an improvement in its UI Green Metric ranking, driven by its acceleration towards becoming a world-class university. This commitment is demonstrated by numerous achievements attained by ITPLN.
The closing ceremony began with a Fun Walk, followed by the awarding of prizes to winners of the sports competitions held during the Dies Natalis celebrations. These competitions involved students and educators in various sports, such as futsal, badminton, chess, table tennis, and Fun Bike activities. Awards were also presented to the best employees and lecturers.
