26 Years of ITPLN, Committed to Becoming a World-Class Campus

Jakarta – April 1 marks the founding day of the PLN Institute of Technology (ITPLN) and is celebrated as ITPLN’s Dies Natalis. This year, ITPLN commemorates its 26th anniversary. ITPLN was established on April 1, 1998, under the name PLN College of Engineering (STT PLN). The establishment of STT PLN at that time aimed to provide a platform for PLN experts to transfer their knowledge to the nation’s future generations. At its inception, there were six study programs, including Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Informatics Engineering, and Diploma III in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

ITPLN operates under the coordination of the PLN Education and Welfare Foundation (YPK PLN), a foundation engaged in social and educational activities.

The theme for ITPLN’s 26th Dies Natalis is “26th Years ITPLN, Acceleration Becoming World Class University.” This theme embodies the determination and strong desire of the academic community to make ITPLN a world-class university at a faster pace.

The 26th Dies Natalis is filled with a series of events, including seminars and academic speeches, science olympiads, social services, various sports competitions, and social media competitions.

The inauguration of the Dies Natalis event took place on April 1, 2024, where several programs were launched:

  1. Launching of the new Vision and Mission.
  2. Implementation of the Whistleblower System (WBS).
  3. Implementation of English Conversation for Management.
  4. Soft Launching of the ITPLN Poetry Collection book.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Iwa Garniwa M K, MT., stated that ITPLN has developed into a center of excellence in education and research in the field of energy. “Let us use this Dies Natalis momentum to strengthen our determination and commitment in facing challenges,” he said.

ITPLN continues to accelerate and take transformative steps, including introducing several programs and collaborations. These include Guest Lectures (Bringing Professors from foreign universities), E-Mobility (ITPLN students visiting and learning from foreign universities), Sandwich Program (3 Years of study at ITPLN and 1 Year at Auckland University), Collaboration with external parties to facilitate internship programs and also ITPLN graduates to work abroad, and much more.

Currently, ITPLN has 4 Faculties and 17 Study Programs, including:

  1. Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Electrical Power Engineering, and Bachelor of Energy System Engineering.
  2. Faculty of Energy Technology and Business: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, and Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Energy Business).
  3. Faculty of Infrastructure Technology and Regional Development: Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Regional Development (Geography), and Bachelor of Environmental Engineering.
  4. Faculty of Energy Telematics: Bachelor of Informatics Engineering and Bachelor of Information Systems.
  5. Postgraduate Programs: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Computer Engineering.
  6. Vocational Programs: Diploma III in Electrical Technology and Diploma III in Mechanical Engineering.

And there are several new programs planned for ITPLN, including Doctoral Programs.

ITPLN has a new vision to embrace the future, aiming to become an internationally renowned university and excel in the field of energy and environmentally conscious technology application.
